Wednesday Word of the Week: Tyro

tyro

A tyro is a beginner in learning something, a novice. It comes from a Latin word used to describe young soldiers or new recruits. Upon first seeing the word, one might guess that it’s related to the word tyke, but oddly, it is not.

It’s such a nifty sounding word that we assumed there would be all kinds of uses in pop culture, but all we found is this rather bored looking comic book team.
